National Swimming Competition 2026: Vietnamese athletes break national records

Hanoi, August 15, 2026 - At the 45th National Swimming Competition being held in Hanoi, Vietnamese athletes continue to show remarkable progress. In the women's 200m freestyle, Tran Thi Bich Le won the gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 10 seconds and 45, breaking her personal national record. This is an excellent achievement after many years of dedicated training. National Swimming Team coach Nguyen Van A said that the training method focused on starting and underwater swimming has helped her maintain steady rhythm throughout the long distance. "This progress is not only for her but also reflects the whole team, especially the young generation," Nguyen Van A, team leader, said. Continuing the success, male athlete Le Van Cuong also surprised by winning the bronze medal in the men's 100m breaststroke. His time was 1 minute 15 seconds and 30, only 0 seconds and 45 behind the leader. This is the first time he has entered the top three in the country. "I have focused on controlling breathing and hand-foot movements to reduce fatigue," Le Van Cuong said after the competition.
